What Is EVO ICL?

EVO ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) is an FDA-approved implantable lens placed just behind the iris and in front of the eye's natural lens. Unlike LASIK, which removes corneal tissue, EVO ICL works by adding a thin, biocompatible lens inside the eye without removing any tissue and without permanently altering the corneal structure. It corrects nearsightedness (myopia) and astigmatism, typically achieving sharper vision than glasses or contact lenses.

One of EVO ICL's most important features is its removability: if vision needs or circumstances change, the lens can be removed by your surgeon.

EVO ICL Candidacy

EVO ICL is a strong option for patients who:

Are between the ages of 21 and 45

Want a reversible vision correction option

Have a stable prescription for at least one year

Have moderate to high myopia (nearsightedness), with or without astigmatism

Have thin corneas or borderline LASIK candidacy

Experience significant dry eye that would preclude LASIK

Your surgeon will perform a thorough evaluation, including corneal topography, anterior chamber depth measurement, and pupil assessment, to confirm candidacy.

The EVO ICL Procedure

The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis under topical anesthesia (numbing drops) and typically takes about 20–30 minutes per eye. A tiny incision is made at the edge of the cornea, the folded ICL is gently inserted, and it unfolds into position behind the iris. No stitches are required. Most patients notice dramatic improvement in vision within 24 hours, with full stabilization over the following weeks.
